Painting in acrylics and oil, Cathy crafts her award-winning illustrations by meticulously layering color over color in a process known as glazing. Her paintings have appeared in numerous publications for the editorial, book, and corporate markets. In 2015, she produced illustrations for her first children’s picture book, "The Nutcracker Comes to America", written by Chris Barton. That year, she also completed a 4000 square foot mural in downtown Ann Arbor. Her latest illustrated children's book, "Trees Make Perfect Pets" written by Paul Czajak, was released in March of 2020. Cathy’s work has won awards from, among others, Communications Arts Magazine, Print Magazine, Society of Illustrators LA, Society of Publications Designers, and the Detroit Creative Directors Council. Her paintings have been exhibited in Ann Arbor, Detroit, and Lansing. She teaches at the College for Creative Studies in Detroit.
