The latest book illustrated by Rafael Lopez, "Book Fiesta!: Celebrate Children's Day/Book Day; Celebremos El dia de los ninos/El dia de los libros," has received the prestigious Belpre Illustrator Award from the American Library Association.

Rafael teamed up once again with children’s book writer Pat Mora to create a bilingual book that celebrates the excitement of reading for grades pre-school – 3.  Together they earned the Pura Belpre Award, honoring a Latino writer and illustrator whose children's books best portray, affirm and celebrate the Latino cultural experience.
