Marty Braun created a feature piece for Bates, the magazine of Bates College in Lewiston, Maine, to illustrate an article titled "Good Eggs." The story describes the on-going work Bates students have been doing with the migrant labor community at an egg "factory" in a nearby town.

This facility was not involved in the recent national salmonella scare, but the students have been working for over ten years to help improve health, medical, and transportation issues for the migrant laborers. Marty wanted to contrast the realities of the egg industry for the workers and chickens with the sunny notion of "farm fresh" eggs. “A part of doing illustration that is always interesting to me is the things I learn about, because of the assignment, that I might otherwise never come across,” he explains.
