ANNA + ELENA BALBUSSO: INDIRA GANDHI

April 23, 2010

Indira Gandhi, who grew up in the powerful Nehru family, went on to become an integral part of modern day India's history. Anna & Elena Balbusso illustrated her life in an awarding winning children's book titled simply "Indira Gandhi," published by El Editions in 2009.

The Balbusso's 8 full-color illustrations have just been selected by Applied Arts magazine to be included in the June/July 2010 Photography & Illustration Awards Annual (complete book illustration category), and will be showcased at Applied Arts' year-end exhibit.

American Illustration will feature their 'Gandhi' illustrations on its website in the 'chosen' category --- their images were two of only 280 images from over 8,000 submitted to receive at least 2 votes, and are therefore eligible to appear permanently on American Illustration's website. The work also appeared in this year's Society of Illustrators 'Editorial and Book Show' to be published in book form this November in the Illustrators 52 Annual.
