Jurgen Mantzke’s illustration, published in the January 2011 issue of EnergyBiz, is for an article about a power switching station in New Mexico called Tres Amigas, which connects the power grid from two regions and Texas. 

“I represented it as roots turning into plugs in a powerstrip connected to New Mexico, explains Jurgen. “I wanted to make it appear as if each region was an adhesive sticker.”
