David Preiss' map for AirTran Airways’ GO magazine illustrates the retracing of John Muir's 1868 trek across California. Muir was a naturalist, author and advocate of preservation of the American wilderness.

Muir co-founded the Sierra club, was a friend of Ralph Waldo Emerson and also petitioned for the congressional bill that established Yosemite and Sequoia National Parks.
