Marty Braun's poster for the Portland Stage production of "God of Carnage," opening this week in Portland, ME, hints at the strong emotions simmering below the surface of manners. The play is about two couples getting together to talk over their sons' playground fight.

What begins as polite conversation goes steadily downhill in this wild and funny show.
"I used bright colors and the loose drawing of the boy to give the poster a child-like feel and to help make it clear that the play is a comedy.,” says Marty. “The title and poster text are hand-lettered for a contemporary feel, and to remove the ‘formal’ look of set type.”
