MARTY BRAUN: VACATIONLAND

Marty Braun’s artwork for Vacationland, a summer ale produced by Gritty McDuff Brewing in Portland, ME, is starting to show up on the shelves of local stores there. “I've been doing new art to freshen up their entire line, and this is the latest,” explains Marty. "Vacationland is an old nickname for Maine; it's on our license plates!”

“I've been pleased that the owners of Gritty's want to head off from the usual and have some fun with their labels. Moose usually get a prime spot in art about Maine, but we decided to go with a black bear, the ‘other’ animal of Maine. I just couldn't show the bear driving while he was holding the bottle. And there is a small lobster in there, because it's a state law that a lobster be included in any visual about Maine…”
