JEFFREY SMITH: THE TIP OF THE SPEAR

Jeffrey Smith recently illustrated an assignment about the Church of Scientology for Los Angeles magazine. “The first image is the original version of the opening painting. It was approved, but then completely revised because of legal concerns. Even though almost all the faces were fictional, the art director and the writer asked me remove them, or cover the faces up,” explains Jeffrey.
“The second image is the revised version. The last two images are subsequent images for the story.” All of the work (minus the original opening illustration) appeared in the January, 2013 edition of Los Angeles magazine.
