In 1990 The Yolla Bolly Press invited Ward Schumaker to pick a title to illustrate; any title. He chose “Paris France,” by Gertrude Stein and Yolla Bolly published a limited edition, letterpress version with an afterward written by George Plimpton. This coming month, San Francisco's Contemporary Jewish Museum will be including the book in "Seeing Gertrude Stein," a show curated by Wanda Corn. (more)

Ward Schumaker’s exhibition of selected paintings from his ongoing Composer Series opens next month at George Lawson Gallery in San Francisco. Schumaker's painting combines elements of illustration and design with improvised gesture and a repertory cast of personal icons and poetic text. (more)

Ward Schumaker is among 12 artists exhibiting in Selected of the Selected, a juried invitational at the Korean Cultural Center opening in Los Angeles May 7.  The exhibit celebrates the 30th anniversary of the Center. (more)
