Bill Cigliano was commissioned by Scholastic to illustrate a story on American folk hero Pecos Bill riding a tornado. The tornado was so large it sucked up elephants from Africa and whales from the Indian Ocean. Bill rode it while twirling a lasso made out of two rattlesnakes. A tough dude! (more)

Richard Downs shares a few images from the latest in an illustrated series of Fables for Young Readers commissioned by 3 CD in Chicago. This is a story about a little bird with a broken wing and a challenging winter fast approaching. He looks for shelter among the trees while all of his winged friends fly south to warmer climates.
