Michael Sloan's illustrations first appeared in The New York Times Op-Ed page, and have been published in the New York Times Letters column over 100 times. He and author Jake Halpern are co-creators of "Welcome to the New World," a comic in 20 episodes documenting the lives of a family of Syrian refugees in America that appeared in serial form in The New York Times / Sunday Review. Michael's work has been awarded three silver medals from the Society of Illustrators in NYC. He has shown his paintings in both solo and group exhibits in the USA and Hong Kong, and has lectured about his artwork at institutions such as The University of Connecticut, The Rhode Island School of Design, Hong Kong University, The Fashion Institute of Technology, and The Yale-China Association. He is also the author of the Zen of Nimbus comic and related works.
