DAVID POHL ILLUSTRATION: MEET ME IN MARKET SQUARE

August 22, 2016

David Pohl created a vibrant series of banners celebrating historic Market Square for his client, The Pittsburgh Downtown Partnership.  Also known as "The Diamond," the area has a long and rich history as a gathering place for social interaction dating back to 1784.

The "diamond" eye acts as a central theme in these banners representing the square as a place to see and be seen. The simplicity of David’s geometric form echoes the surrounding historic architecture.

“With the pairing of two banners on a pole, I wanted to illustrate the synergy of people gathering, meeting one another; of coming together,” explains David. “Each individual face on a banner aligns with a face on every other banner, symbolizing endless possibilities for connection and exchange.”
