John Hersey was commissioned to create a massive 68 x 9 foot mural for the walls of the new research headquarters of IBM Watson / The Weather Company in Atlanta. 

John Hersey was commissioned to create a massive 68 x 9 foot mural for the walls of the new research headquarters of IBM Watson / The Weather Company in Atlanta. 

 IBM acquired the parent company of the Weather Channel to create a new entity that gathers and integrates weather data with prediction algorithms. They then sell the information, as well as information services, to a wide range of companies that require this data in the course of doing business. Shipping, agriculture, transit & transportation … the list goes on.

The client wanted an abstract digital feel, so John created a few sketches in Illustrator. He then went to finish in Photoshop, ultimately delivering two ginormous .psb files for production.
