PETE RYAN
March 24, 2023
What an honour to make a cover for such a historic and important publication- been getting a lot of stories so far this year about how AI is about to ruin humanity - I find the looming horizon of ai coming to steal my career and creativity as the most annoying way to go out- if I’m gonna be pushed into obsolescence I’d like it to be because of my own ineptitude not because of skynet

Pete Ryan created this animated illustration for the cover of Popular Mechanics. There have been a lot of stories so far this year about how AI is about to ruin humanity... (more)

The first of 6 images in a really fun Ad campaign for @wymansfruit - I’ve been working with @ericajohnsondesign who’s expertly Art Directed each piece to showcase a bit about Wyman’s, a bit about Maine, and a lot about growing, harvesting, and caring for wild blueberries and the land they call home. “From a land where goodness always bears fruit” showcases people harvesting the berries (an actual blueberry harvester looks a LOT like a fork) so it was a nice overlap. This has been one of the most entertaining jobs of the year and I feel super fortunate to be involved with this ethical, family owned company. Go eat some blueberries everyone!

A particularly moving article to work on for me, as I have family and friends who have battled and are recovering from eating disorders. It takes daily strength and courage, and they are all amazing people who I look up to a great deal.
