This illustration for UGA's Terry college of business goes along with a story about how a UGA virologist needed help analyzing a huge trove of research data from a long-term study of H5N1 avian flu, so she turned to her best friend UGA Management Information Systems professor Carolina Salge. Salge, who knows nothing about viruses, cleaned and analyzed the data to find patterns that helped the virologist find the parts of the virus genome that could be most effectively targeted by vaccines.
