STEVEN SALERNO ILLUSTRATION: WILD HORSE ANNIE

Steven Salerno's 30th illustrated picture book is about to be released: "WILD HORSE ANNIE," written by Tracey Fern, published by Farrar Straus Giroux. The true story of Velma Bronn Johnston (aka Wild Horse Annie), horse lover and animal rights activist who was the driving force behind Federal Laws passed in 1971 protecting wild horses on public lands.

Little Annie loved horses, having been raised on a ranch... and as an adult went on to save the lives of hundreds of thousands of wild horses. Steven's period illustrations reflect Annie's tough character and unwavering determination to save the horses she loved.
