STEVEN SALERNO ILLUSTRATION: PLANE NOISE!

Steven Salerno's recent illustration for the Wall Street Journal accompanied an article analyzing which commercial airline planes are the quietest, evaluating the decibel levels of not just the planes themselves (jet engine noise, hydraulic noise, etc...) but also interior sound levels too: banging overhead bins, speaker announcements, passenger chatter, etc... even reporting on what sections of the plane are the quietest (pssst- it's the front!)

Steve's cacophonous illustration, created digitally with painted gouache texturing, humorously depicts some of the points covered, including crying tots and the atmospheric friction along the plane. See many more of Steven's editorial illustrations for various clients at stevensalerno.com
