Matt Rota illustrated a couple of memorable stories for The American Scholar. First, an account of the difficult filming of Truffaut’s Mississippi Mermaid (La Sirène du Mississipi—with one p), starring Catherine Deneuve and Jean-Paul Belmondo, and paradoxically shot on location in Nice, Aix-en-Provence, and the Alps.
