DALE STEPHANOS: BUM STEERS

Dale Stephanos nails a number of sacred cows in his hilariously detailed cover for the annual “Bum Steers” issue of Texas Monthly. Lance Armstrong was the clear winner of this year’s “Texan Who Destroyed His Legacy” sweepstakes, so he has the spotlight.

Runners-up include Glenn Beck, whose latest art project, a take on Andre Serrano’s “Piss Christ,” entailed filling a mason jar with his very own pee and a submerged Obama bobble head.

Then there’s Randy Travis who got drunk, got naked, and got caught by the police.  And Snoop Dog who made the cut by rolling the wrong way in the Lone Star State.

And last year’s featured cover boy, Texas Governor Rick Perry, is back, now insisting that teachers should be armed.

“At one point I flew the idea of Lance being shirtless - he's been stripped of all the Tour de France yellow jerseys he won - and having him with the classic cyclist's tan,” says Dale. No dice- but clearly a great idea.
