Dykes was commissioned by American University to illustrate a series of illustrations commemorating the 50th Anniversary of the 1964 Civil Rights Act.  John created a cover plus three and a half spreads in a sketchbook style, utilizing portraits, spots, and hand lettering to provide an overview of major moments in our country’s history.  (more)
