Paul Garland's new illustration for Harvard Magazine accompanied a feature on the two ways of giving, "Heads and Hearts." Most common is the decision to give from an emotional standpoint, something that is near and dear to your heart. The other is giving in a more logical way to an organization that can have a greater overall impact. The researchers also discovered how we might tap into both ways of giving to satisfy the giver but also create a greater impact.
