Is Civil War Coming to America?
Art for the New York Times book review of “How Civil Wars Start,” by Barbara F. Walter, and “The Next Civil War,” by Stephen Marche.
Both books discuss factors that lead to political instability and civil conflict. Among the different conditions leading to civil war, Factionalism is a major indicator, which Walter defines as politics that "goes from being a system in which citizens care about the good of the country as a whole, to one in which they care only about members of their group.”
