THEISPOT INTERVIEWS CAMILLE CHISHOLM

May 11, 2023
Camille Chisholm's work includes graphics for large scale interior displays, illustration and logo design. She received a BFA in Graphic Arts and Illustration from Pratt Institute, New York.

How would you describe your art style?
I’d describe my art style as Abstract.

Share a favorite project and tell us about it.
Can’t come up with a favorite project. I like Pratt Institute’s motto… “Be true to your work and your work will be true to you.” So the more of “me’ in my work, the more I like it.

Currently I’m creating with more traditional materials…I’ve been missing touching the paper, painting, cutting, gluing and getting messy so it was on to playing with textures. When I like what I see ( it takes lots of experimenting and lots of paper) I combine the traditional with the the digital.

Which artists inspire you and why?
Jean - Michel Basquiat ( 1960-1988) See attached photo of the plaque at the address where he died. I like to think that his work brought him much joy despite his sad ending.

And speaking of Theispot!!!! There is Noah Woods... Hooray! I’m drawn to his imaginative images, shapes and figures, and how he fills the page along with treating us to those  playful luscious details.

Name a bucket list item.
Asian cooking with great Masters. Watching and learning.

Other than illustration, what job would you like to do for one day?

Imagining….. Something in the medical field…eye doctor, or pediatrician.
