THEISPOT INTERVIEWS FERNANDA SANOVICZ

May 3, 2023

Fernanda Sanovicz is a curious, energetic person from São Paulo, where she grew up absorbing the city’s street art scene. She works with design, illustration, and as a professor.

How would you describe your art style?

Fearless, free and not a lot of rules!

Share a favorite project and tell us about it.

I really love this piece about São Paulo. It took me awhile and it was made as a promotional piece for an international event (it was Chosen for AI 42). I was going to draw it black and white and I couldn’t resist throwing in a fews colors.

Which artists inspire you and why?

Many many artists, but right now I am studying a lot of Beatrice Alemagna, Nora Krug and David Mckee. They all have different styles and are very unique. Also, their illustrations look like a lot of fun and are very free.

Name a bucket list item.

Illustrate for The New York Times!

Other than illustration, what job would you like to do for one day?

Work for a non-profit eradicating poverty.
