May 8, 2023

Jordi Ferrándiz is an award-winning Spanish designer and illustrator born in Barcelona.

How would you describe your art style?

My work illustrating portraits in magazine articles, posters or book covers stands out for its powerful and sophisticated compositions and powerful colors, influenced by video clips and pop art.

Share a favorite project and tell us about it.

It's hard for me to choose because I always enjoy my work. Most of my projects and commissions are portraits of which all of them are my favorites because I love to portray people. And as a personal project one of my favorites is the series of illustrations inspired by my trip to Japan. Its culture, the aesthetics of its products, stores, nothing left me indifferent. Little by little is growing the series dedicated to different cities, Tokyo, Shijuku, Osaka.

Which artists inspire you and why?

I like and am inspired by many, it would not be fair to mention a few and leave so many out.

Name a bucket list item.

There are many on that list, but I would love to illustrate the cover of Rolling Stone, Time or Esquire Magazine for example.

Other than illustration, what job would you like to do for one day?

I'm probably already doing it. I combine ceramics with illustration. In my spare time or when I need to, I go to the workshop to make ceramic pieces. It is vital for me to be able to work with my hands.
